Not Fit For Print

Just got a news release from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office that said deputies would have an intensive crackdown on impaired driving from Aug. 21-Sept. 7 — by arresting anyone over the legal limit of .08, no exceptions.

I was kind of confused about why they’d send a news release out about that, since, well, don’t they already do that every day? You blow over .08, you’re getting booked, right? Am I wrong on this?

Hidden in the news release was a line about how some deputies would get overtime to do DUII patrols through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That’s probably the real news here.
