Click here to listen to the audio of Oregon State University’s emergency alert on Tuesday, which was issued because of a police standoff on 25th Street, just north of campus.

Look for several stories on the standoff, the suspect and the emergency alert in Wednesday’s G-T, and online later on tonight.

The incident was in the heart of Greek Row, and plenty of people were watching the SWAT team and other activity out second story windows. In a weird way, it became a bit of a party, with people watching from the second floor of fraternities and sororities, and bystanders flocking to the caution tape.

And yes, I was one of those bystanders, I guess. For the record, the G-T had four reporters and two photographers working on this breaking news at some point in time today.
