Cigarette burglary Comments

Jul6

Here’s a sneak peak at a cigarette burglary story that will be in tomorrow’s paper.
On a related note, Nader seems like a cool guy. I wish I would have had more time to talk with him about life in America. Maybe I’ll touch base with him again for a “Story Next Door.”

Top 10 lists Comments

Jul6

A quick perusal of the G-T’s top 10 online stories shows plenty of crime articles, as usual, but there’s also a mix of sports, business and medical issues.
And there’s a few stories about a rather prominent landlord’s garbage pile.
I’ll try and get to more recent top 10 lists later in the week.

G-T party. Comments

Jul1

I’m writing this as the office is absolutely packed for the 100th anniversary party of the Gazette-Times as a daily paper.
The cake is wicked awesome, there are limited edition mementos such as a reprint of the first daily paper. Lots of former newsers. Lots of officials. Mayor Charlie. The D.A. A big to-do.

Overall, the week was [...]

B-24 error Comments

Jun9

Well, I certainly think we’ll be covering the vintage World War II planes at the Corvallis airport, especially after a tremendous response to an error that made its way into Tuesday’s online and print editions of the Corvallis Gazette-Times.
The brief that ran said B-24s went on Doolittle’s raid, which, as many readers pointed out, was [...]

OSU name auction/Top 10 goes to the dogs Comments

Jun3

A couple of art students decided to auction off the name of the Fairbanks Hall Annex five times in a week, to poke fun at OSU’s practice of renaming structures after major donors.
The first auction was Friday, and things took a strange turn right off the bat when the winner was an anonymous proxy bidder.  [...]

Shwayze strikes back Comments

Jun1

Here are some letters from Shwayze musician and Cisco Adler,  about the group’s ill-fated show at Oregon State University.
The group headlined the Flat Tail Festival on Saturday night and had it’s set cut short for party-band activities such as getting the crowd to throw marijuana up on stage, and swearing like such mofos you would [...]
